We’ve recently completed a couple coaster / business card combinations, which work out very nicely as a simple branding package. Coasters make lovely, unique gifts and certainly get noticed.

This small package was printed for a new business of a long time family friend. We chose to contrast the Pearl White Crane Lettra stock on the business card with a hefty chipboard for the coasters. The dark brown ink on both pieces pulled it all together.

Graphic designer, Olivia Notter, had us letterpress print these fantastic double sided business cards. The color combination and unique design made these one of our favorites. Thin lines and patterns generally look very nice with the letterpress printing process.

Today Hoban Cards will start selling card holders as an option with an order of calling cards for $10. These holders are made out of thick chipboard and open up wide, which is perfect for handling letterpress printed business cards on cotton stock - it prevents the cards from getting dinged and scuffed. The cases also feature a handsome inkless impression of the Hoban Press logo on the front.

Say hello to Kaori Drome. She is a wonderful designer with a keen eye for pulling off effectively simple works of art. I worked with Kaori on her own custom business cards and liked her design so much I asked if she’d take part as Hoban Cards’ first guest designer.

I had a pleasant time working with Garrett from Sifter on these. Their handsome logo worked perfectly for these simple double sided letterpress printed cards on 220lb Crane Lettra. They also wrote a nice journal entry about them.

I had the opportunity to design a logo for my brother-in-law’s new iPhone / iPad / Smartphone repair shop and thought I’d print him up some cards as well. These are black, one color cards on 140lb Holyoke. They were also printed on my 1957 Heidelberg Windmill, which I’m beginning to use more and more.

They say, the carpenter’s house is never finished. Similarly, the letterpress printer never has any business cards. I’ve recently been embarrassed after explaining to friends an family how I make business cards for folks all over the world and I’m not able to provide them a card of my own!

To remedy this, I’ve designed and printed a simple, one color card. I think it turned out well and exemplifies the simplicity and elegance that I’m trying to promote with my letterpress printed business and calling cards.

I’m super excited to announce the launch of a brand new Hoban Cards website!

In addition to a complete redesign and introduction to the new logo, the new site offers a few new calling card templates - including, two new monogram cards with blind impressions, as well as a simple Twitter card.

A few weeks ago I finished some cards for WeSprout. They provided this wonderful design. I particularly loved the use of the blind impression in their logo and the social icons to organize their contact information.
